Ideas for projects or stream of consciousness?
A couple of weeks ago I received an email from someone who has seen my work in different venues, from Circular Abstractions at the Muskegon Museum of Art to ‘Autumn’ at all AQS shows 2 years ago. She said she missed my old webpage, and my “chatty” blogs. Then yesterday, Darling Son (DS) said that these blog posts were more like a stream of consciousness than they used to be. I never thought I would say this, but I miss my old webpage in Wordpress. Each blog was roughly 400 words, while some were much shorter and crowded with images, others were longer with one 1 or 2 inspirational images. I also had a bi-monthly, ‘What’s on Your Design Wall?’ that I would both post for myself, and had others send in their pictures. Many did not want them posted on the website but just wanted to share with me what they were working on. Artists are supportive like that.
I noted that DS was correct but reminded him that when I had a quilt on the cover of Quilting Arts magazine in 2012, there was no TikTok, no Insta, no Snapchat, and certainly no Smartphones. When I see whole families with their heads buried in their screens while having dinner at a restaurant ‘together’ I wonder, is society moving forward?
I’ll try to stick closer to design concepts, ideas, and inspiration, but also words of encouragement. Here’s what’s on my design wall today. What’s on yours?
